It has been suggested that SKAP2 is involved in regulating β-cell apoptosis in the pancreas and mediate glycaemic control in newly diagnosed diabetes patients [55], and a study that addressed the role of SKAP2 in colitis-associated cancer showed that SKAP2 loss promotes inflammatory processes downstream of TLR4 via interaction with SHP1 and SHP2 [41].
