The significant increase in QRT-PCR transcriptional activity of the metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) gene with a simultaneous decrease in the activity of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1 (TIMP-1) gene in the study group of patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure makes them useful diagnostic and prognostic markers in clinical practice. Here, MMP9 is linked to coronary artery disorder.
