STAT3 and Jeune syndrome: One study examined two DED murine models (mutant mice lacking meibomian glands (MGD model) and lacrimal gland excision (aqueous tear deficiency (ATD) model)) and found that both case groups had STAT3 elevations in the cornea and conjunctiva (MGD group by 1.2- and 3.3-fold and ATD group by 1.78- and 1.3-fold, respectively) compared to control mice [37].
