TGF-β was shown to suppress lymphangiogenesis via inhibiting the expression of collagen and calcium-binding EGF domain-1 [86], a molecule implicated in the proteolytic activity and maturation of VEGF-C [87], showing a new mechanism by which a deficit of TGF-β signaling facilitates metastasis of CRC [86]. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and colorectal carcinoma.
