T cell responses against melanocyte-specific antigens such as melanosomal proteins involved in pigment synthesis (i.e., gp100, tyrosinase, MART-1/Melan-A, TRP1, and TRP2) correlate with tumor regressions and vitiligo in vivo in mice (van Elsas et al, 2001; Overwijk et al, 2003) and patients with melanoma (Rosenberg & White, 1996; Hua et al, 2016). This evidence concerns the gene PMEL and vitiligo.
