MTOR and cancer: In addition, rapamycin and other mTOR inhibitors such as everolimus and temsirolimus have also been approved for the treatment of cancer by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (Ballou & Lin, 2008; Populo et al., 2012), implying that targeting shared signaling pathways or mechanisms underlying both processes may suggest a promising dual‐purpose therapeutic intervention for anti‐aging and anti‐cancer.
