Different hematological (lymphocyte count, neutrophil count), inflammatory (C-reactive protein [CRP]), immunological (interleukin IL-6) or biochemical (creatine kinase [CK], D-dimer) biomarkers have been investigated at the acute phase of SARS-CoV-2 infection to identify subjects at a higher risk of severe COVID-19. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and COVID-19.
