A decrease in serum MPO levels was shown after 3 weeks of a low-fat diet and aerobic exercise in 31 obese men, 15 of whom had MetS; the modifications were associated with decreases in BMI, serum lipids and markers of lipid peroxidation (8-isoprostaglandin F2α) and markers of inflammation such as CRP, soluble ICAM-1, soluble P-selectin and matrix metalloproteinase-9 [51]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and metabolic syndrome.
