Within the context of ALS, the FUS-mutant-induced loss of LMO3 likely plays a role in the degeneration of motor neurons, while increases in lnc-ZNF404, with the subsequent downregulation of ZNF404 mRNA, exacerbate wide-scale perturbations in diseased motor neuron transcriptomes. Here, ZNF404 is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
