Previous studies have shown that insulin resistance is an early change that is observed in CKD, and is it worsened by ongoing chronic inflammation (Alicic et al. 2022), CRTC2 significantly contributes to the development of insulin resistance, and disruption of CRTC2 increases insulin sensitivity (Wang et al. 2010b; Hogan et al. 2015). The gene discussed is CRTC2; the disease is chronic kidney disease.
