IDH1 and cancer: IDH1 mutations in CAC (7% in both IBD dysplasia and CAC; not reported in non-dysplastic IBD colon) follow hotspots observed in other cancers, such as gliomas, that result in accumulation of the 2-hydroxyglutarate oncometabolite (2-HG) which results in a hypermethylation phenotype [8, 72–74].
