We discovered that NLRP3-mediated pyroptosis was significantly increased after the reduction of MUC1 expression in in vitro experiments through stimulation of BEAS-2B with LPS and successive transfecton with MUC1-siRNA; this revealed the potential of MUC1 in reducing neutrophilic inflammation in asthma that was closely related to NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated-pyroptosis. This evidence concerns the gene MUC1 and asthma.
