The oxidative pentose phosphate pathway (oxPPP) can provide both nucleotide precursors for tumor growth and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) for tumor metastasis.[10, 11] Glucose‐6‐phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) is the first rate‐limiting enzyme in the oxPPP, and its function is strictly regulated in normal cells but highly activated in cancer cells.
