CD8A and cyst: In contrast to the selected secretory molecules, GRA1, GRA2, GRA3, GRA7, and ROP35, whose mRNA levels are notably upregulated in the cysts that persisted in the presence of anti-cyst CD8+ immune T cells, the present study also revealed that mRNA levels for the non-secretory control molecule, SAG2C, expressed on the surface of bradyzoites were not elevated in those cysts capable of persisting under the host immunity.
