Initially, compared to the healthy controls, the two asthma groups were found to have higher baseline levels of Th2 cytokines IL-4 (238.13 ± 88.45 ng/ml versus 72.84 ± 33.27 ng/ml, p < 0.001; 305.01 ± 105.59 ng/ml versus 72.84 ± 33.27 ng/ml, p < 0.001) and IL-5 (142.50 ± 63.05 ng/ml versus 35.66 ± 15.67 ng/ml, p < 0.001; 169.16 ± 63.67 ng/ml versus 35.66 ± 15.67 ng/ml, p < 0.001). Here, IL4 is linked to asthma.
