Regarding laboratory parameters, aside from the diagnostic criteria for HLH, we observed that children with HLH had significantly higher levels of aspartate aminotransferase (117 vs. 41 U/L, P < 0.0001), lactate dehydrogenase (1113 vs. 555 U/L, P = 0.0002), and albumin (33.85 vs. 29.4 g/L, P = 0.0136) than those without HLH. Here, ALB is linked to hemophagocytic syndrome.
