IL-1 and IL-6 are associated with a higher incidence of metabolic syndrome (MetS), which includes multiple disorders such as insulin resistance, central obesity, dyslipidemia, and hypertension [4], with their serum levels used to monitor response to pharmacologic treatment [12], as seen in the study by Tabrizi et al., where therapeutic management of MetS with statins led to a decrease in the circulating levels of IL-1 and IL-6 [18]. Here, IL6 is linked to Hypertension.
