Although we observed no difference regarding the predominance of M1 or M2 monocytes or FoxP3+ Treg lymphocytes between the groups studied, we found that obese adolescents had a higher expression of CD4 lymphocytes, suggesting that obesity may activate a greater proliferation of these cells and amplify the inflammatory state. The gene discussed is FOXP3; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
