While insulin signaling is known to promote lipid synthesis in the liver, reductions were seen in this study in the pathological grade of NASH, hepatic steatosis (Fig. 2b, c, Supplementary Fig. 2c–e), fibrosis (Supplementary Fig. 2f), and hepatocarcinogenesis (Fig. 2d, e) in insulin-treated STAM mice when they were 20 weeks of age. Here, INS is linked to fatty liver disease.
