Indeed, Asian subjects have been shown to have a much lower insulin-secretory capacity and develop diabetes at a significantly lower body mass index (BMI) and through much less severe insulin resistance than Caucasian subjects, with the BMI of Asian subjects comorbid with diabetes and NASH/HCC also shown to be lower than that in their Caucasian counterparts.
