IL1B and endothelial dysfunction: Studies have shown that NLRP3 can be activated in endothelial cells in response to stimuli common to cardiovascular pathologies, such as high blood glucose levels and oxidized low‐density lipoprotein (oxLDL).[30] Endothelial NLRP3 activation promotes canonical secretion of cytokines IL‐1β and IL‐18 which induce endothelial dysfunction.[31] Extending from the positive benefits of MCC950 on enhanced angiogenesis, our findings warrant further research into the specific triggers of the NLRP3 activation in endothelial cells as well as in varying contexts such as the FBR.
