In contrast, A1‐deficient BMDMs responded normally to canonical NLRP3 and noncanonical Caspase‐11 inflammasome stimuli, as well as infection with the intracellular pathogen Salmonella enterica Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) (Fig EV2J–P), indicating that A1 only regulates NLRP3 inflammasome activation downstream of BAX/BAK‐dependent apoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene BAK1 and infection.
