SV2A and epilepsy: From 2 to 4 weeks after SE, the expression of SV2A in the hippocampus were continuously increased, probably due to the formation of new axon collaterals and new synapses caused by the mossy fibre sprouting and synapse reconstruction in the chronic phase of epilepsy, resulting in the increase in the distribution area of the synaptic vesicles and increased SV2A expression.
