In Kawasaki disease, there is evidence of imbalanced Th1/Th2 cell responses, and the plasma level and mRNA expression levels of Th1 cytokines (IFN-γ, IL-2) and Th2 cytokines (IL-4 and IL-10) are markedly elevated during the acute stage of Kawasaki disease (33, 34).
