Recently, maternal biomarkers have been found to be associated with fetal CHD in utero, including increased levels of free beta‐human chorionic gonadotropin (β‐hCG) and branched‐chain amino acids (Zhang et al, 2022), and decreased levels of pregnancy‐associated plasma protein‐A (PAPP‐A) in the first trimester (Michailidis & Economides, 2001; Souter et al, 2002; Makrydimas et al, 2003; Jelliffe‐Pawlowski et al, 2008). The gene discussed is PAPPA; the disease is coronary artery disorder.
