Based on the primary analysis of CheckMate 238 [1], nivolumab was approved in 2018 by the European Medicines Agency as an adjuvant treatment for patients with resected melanoma with involvement of lymph nodes or metastatic disease who have undergone complete resection [5], and it became the first anti–PD-1 therapy to be reimbursed in Belgium and Luxembourg as an adjuvant melanoma treatment.
