When troponin levels were assessed as a continuous variable, they were also lower in COVID-19 patients compared to non-COVID-19 patients (Table 2; median (interquartile range) 11.6 (9.9–53.7) vs. 35.5 (9.9–218), p < 0.001), and this difference remained statistically significant after adjusting in a gamma regression model for age, sex, coronary artery disease, heart failure, SOFA score (creatinine, total bilirubin, PaO2/FiO2 ratio, mean arterial pressure/vasopressor, Glasgow Coma Scale, platelets), lactate, and C-reactive protein (p = 0.042).
