Analysis of cleaved cytokeratin 18, which is usually cleaved by caspases and is a marker of apoptosis or necrosis [45], showed up-regulation of astrocytes with cleaved cytokeratin 18 in 2xTg-AD mice, pointing to the death of cerebellar astrocytes within Aβ pathology (Figure 6f,g).
