The quantification of the immunofluorescence staining revealed 39.8 ± 11.2% of the CK16-positive KCs in the control, 41.2 ± 10.8% in the ASC-CM (p < 0.05 vs. control, ns), and 74.9 ± 16.8% in the TGF-β1 (p < 0.001 vs. control)-treated KCs (n = 6). This evidence concerns the gene KRT16 and dry eye syndrome.
