According to a study on the role of small intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) in celiac disease, NLRP2/6/8, as inflammasome sensors, participate in an IFN-γ-circle in which NLRP2/6/8 receives signals from intestinal microbes and promotes the production of the downstream molecules IL-18 and IFN-γ. Here, NLRP2 is linked to celiac disease.
