INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Thus, our data suggest that dysregulated insulin signaling – especially in hepatocytes, which play a critical role in maintaining glucose homeostasis (Klover and Mooney, 2004) – might explain why SARS-CoV2 infected patients with type 2 diabetes have uncontrolled glucose homeostasis and are comorbid (Mishra and Dey, 2021) and why COVID-19 infection could lead to the development of type 2 diabetes (Barrett et al., 2022).
