In addition, in CRC, researchers found a new protein named metastasis-related protein, cell migration-inducing and hyaluronan-binding protein (CEMIP), which can regulate the expression of SLC1A5 and SLC38A2 by inhibiting the wnt/β-catenin signal axis (Fig. 1) and thus reduce tumour ATP synthesis by reducing glutamine uptake and metabolism, resulting in a decrease in CRC tumour metastasis [34]. The gene discussed is SLC1A5; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
