Experimental stimulation of TLR2 in breast cancer stem cells (CSC) induces the activation of the MyD88/NF-κB and Akt pathways following the secretion of several cytokines (TGF-β and IL-6) and growth factors (epidermal growth factor (EGF)) that enable the cancer cells to survive and invade the nearby tissue or blood vessel (104). This evidence concerns the gene TLR2 and breast cancer.
