The VCAM-1 levels were higher on boys with MetS than girls with MetS (15.57 ± 22.24 vs. 4.52 ± 1.45 pg/mL; p=0.003) and girls with non-MetS (15.57 ± 22.24 vs. 5.28 ± 6.99 pg/ml; p ≤ 0.001) while girls with MetS had a significantly lower levels of VCAM-1 than boys with non-MetS (4.52 ± 1.45 vs. 13.41 ± 13.04 pg/ml; p ≤ 0.001). Here, VCAM1 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
