In adult population, ICAM-1, VCAM-1, and E-selectin were significantly correlated with fasting blood glucose (r = 0.59; p < 0.001); the increased ICAM-1 was suspected related to hyperglycaemia in type-2 diabetes mellitus subjects [45] which was in line with this study in both genders, but genetic study showed ICAM-1 was correlated positively with fasting insulin, HOMA IR, BMI, and waist circumference, and negative correlation with HDL-c [46]. The gene discussed is ICAM1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
