It is possible that ApoE may play important roles not only in SARS‐CoV‐2 cellular entry, but also in other steps of the viral life cycle including virion assembly and egression, and in cellular response to viral infection, which can be important aspects for future studies to further develop the ApoE‐targeted strategy for inhibition of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection and consequent cellular damage. The gene discussed is APOE; the disease is viral infectious disease.
