The differentiation between MCL and CLL is crucial as MCL is characterised by an aggressive clinical course with continuous relapse and poor prognostic outcome [46–48], and sometimes clinicians rely on other tests such as testing for Cyclin D1 and/or the detection of chromosomal translocation t(11; 14) for a definitive diagnosis which uses techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Western blot which are both costly, time consuming and not available in all Haematology laboratories. This evidence concerns the gene CCND1 and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
