CCND1 and mantle cell lymphoma: The differentiation between MCL and CLL is crucial as MCL is characterised by an aggressive clinical course with continuous relapse and poor prognostic outcome [46–48], and sometimes clinicians rely on other tests such as testing for Cyclin D1 and/or the detection of chromosomal translocation t(11; 14) for a definitive diagnosis which uses techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and Western blot which are both costly, time consuming and not available in all Haematology laboratories.
