Similarly, UGT1A6, the enzyme involved in p-cresol glucuronidation, was decreased in explant tissue from patients with alcohol-associated hepatitis, while bile acid glucuronosyltransferase UDP glucuronosyltransferase family 2 member B4 UGT2B4 was decreased in the sAH groups but increased with NAFLD and HCV with cirrhosis (Figure 2D).
