In the present study, we highlight that: high pre-pregnancy BMI regulated H19DMR methylation in maternal blood and altered some parameters of fetal and newborn growth and fetal adiposity; IGF2 and H19 gene expression did not seem to be the link between obesity and the offspring outcomes investigated; and H19DMR methylation and expression of IGF2 and H19 genes in cord blood and especially in maternal decidua and placental villi regulated several parameters of fetal growth and body composition. The gene discussed is IGF2; the disease is obesity disorder.
