After receiving various psychotropic drugs (antipsychotics, antidepressants) with little effect, followed by lorazepam, lithium and/or hormonal contraceptives, with variable responses, their condition improved with immunosuppressive treatment in the face of suspected autoimmune encephalitis, before whole-exome sequencing revealed that they carried a point mutation in the SHANK3 gene. The gene discussed is SHANK3; the disease is autoimmune encephalitis.
