So the infiltrates of keratinocytes in the basal layer of epithelium in 60% of studied cases of OLP were predominantly CD8+ suppressor-cytotoxic cells; this is consistent with [16-20], who demonstrated that CD8+ T-cells make up most of OLP's cellular infiltration relative to CD4+ T-cells, elucidating the pathogenic involvement of CD8+ T-cells in basement membrane destruction, lends credence to the idea that cytotoxic T lymphocytes have a role in the disease's emergence.
