NFE2L3 and neoplasm: Although the experiment was performed in mice with a global Nrf3 knockout, the highly predominant expression of NRF3 in keratinocytes of human skin (Fig 1B) and of mouse skin (Siegenthaler et al, 2018) and the low or even undetectable expression of Nrf3/Nfe2l3 in different types of immune cells of healthy mice (http://rstats.immgen.org/Skyline/skyline.html) suggest that Nrf3 acts mainly in a cell autonomous manner in keratinocytes during tumor progression.
