Activated hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), the primary ECM-producing cells in the liver, respond to and secrete multifarious profibrotic cytokines, such as transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), all of which are the powerful cytokines resulting in hepatic fibrosis [3, 4]. Here, TGFB1 is linked to Hepatic fibrosis.
