Interestingly, the phytochemicals isolated from D. costus like costunolide and dehydrocostuslactone were found to suppress tumor growth as well as metastases of breast cancer cell via tumor necrosis factor-α-(TNF-α)-induced nuclear factor-kappa (NF-κB) activation, leading to inhibition of MDA-MB-231 migration and invasion. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and breast carcinoma.
