TP53 and neoplasm: The mechanism of action of curcumin against tumors is facilitated by three different mechanisms: (i) downregulation of anti-apoptotic proteins which leads to the induction of apoptosis in tumor cells and upregulation of tumor suppressor genes (e.g., p53) (ii) downregulation of MMPs (matrix metalloproteinase), which prevents tumor invasion and (iii) the anti-inflammatory effect which increases its potency against tumors.
