MORN repeat-containing protein 4 (MORN4) directly binds to Mfn2 and promotes phosphorylation of Mfn2 at Ser442 by Rho-associated protein kinase 2 (ROCK2) to induce mitochondrial dynamics and mitophagy [229]. Downregulation MORN4 during myocardial ischemia accelerated cardiac injury and fibrosis, exacerbating cardiac dysfunction in a murine model [229]. Here, MFN2 is linked to myocardial ischemia.
