We observed the anti-apoptotic activity of intracellular (ectopically expressed) FGF1 in several other cell types, including human BJ fibroblasts, osteosarcoma cells stably transfected with FGFR1 (U2OS_R1 [19]), breast cancer cell line MCF7 and human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK 293) cells, suggesting that the observed effect is a common phenomenon. This evidence concerns the gene FGFR1 and breast carcinoma.
