In alcoholic cirrhosis, ethanol induces the activation of KMT2A (histone H3Lys4 methyltransferase), which subsequently mediates histone H3 trimethylation at Lys4 on the elastin gene promoter, leading to chromatin activation and upregulation of elastin and other ECM genes and thereby promoting the progression of liver fibrosis. Here, ELN is linked to Hepatic fibrosis.
