It was reported that MAMs were significantly reduced in renal tissues of DKD patients, and the expression of MAM-related proteins such as DsbA-L, PACS2 and MFN2 was reduced and inversely correlated with blood lipid levels and the degree of renal lipid deposition, suggesting that a disruption of MAM integrity may lead to renal lipid deposition in DKD 108. This evidence concerns the gene PACS2 and diabetic kidney disease.
