ALB and Cirrhosis: In a large, multi-center cohort of 6,049 patients with compensated cirrhosis, the authors demonstrated that the EPOD score, which incorporates albumin level, platelet count, and bilirubin concentration, provides a good prediction tool for the risk of decompensation, and outperforms the established MELD and Child-Pugh score in predicting the risk of decompensation (27).
