There are conflicting conclusions in the literature on whether the association between high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) and diabetes development is modified by sex and whether the association is truly independent of hypertension,15 33–35 general obesity36–38 and abdominal obesity.33 39 Evidences of interaction were also evident in some studies between CRP and sex,34 40 BMI,15 38 hypertension15 41 or with waist circumference,38 while other studies, however, did not observe evidence of interaction between hs-CRP with sex nor with BMI.42 43.
