HIF1A and ischemic stroke: Inhibition of miR-155-5p enhanced cell viability and prevented cell apoptosis, significantly decreased infarct volume, improved neurobehavioral outcomes in middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rats, inhibited inflammation and oxidative stress, and resulted in enhanced protection against cerebral infarction after NSC transplant.[46] HIF-1α can sufficiently control the progression of neurological symptoms after an ischemic stroke owing to the actions associated with its downstream genes.[46]
